Lilly Daché (1904, Beigles - 1990), était la fille d'un fermier de la région bordelaise.
Elle fait son apprentissage chez la modiste Caroline Reboux, puis émigre à New York en 1924 où elle va vivre une sorte compte de fée.

Elle travaille d'abord chez Bonnet Shop, spécialiste d'articles de modes dont elle rachète la boutique quelques mois plus tard. Elle y installera un atelier de fabrication de chapeaux et de sacs.
Elle devient très vite la modiste à la mode et pour leur faire supporter les moments difficiles de la Grande Dépression de 1929, elle proposera aux femmes des créations audacieuses.
Elle a popularisé les turbans drapés, les bords moulés, les demis chapeaux ou les filets à cheveux.
Elle élargira ensuite son offre de produits au prêt-à-porter. Dans les années 40, elle concevra également des chapeaux au cinéma pour Joan Crawford, Marlene Dietrich, Carmen Miranda ou Betty Grable.
Dans les années cinquante, les femmes portent de moins en moins de chapeaux et elle se diversifie en ouvrant un salon de beauté où elle propose des produits de beauté et ses parfums Drifting et Dashing.
Lilly Daché, qui avait créé plus de 9.000 chapeaux cesse son activité en 1968.
